Banff Sports Hall of Fame selects The Banff Community Foundation
The Banff Community Foundation (TBCF) is delighted to announce the creation of its newest fund: The Banff Sports Hall of Fame Fund.
Chair of the community foundation, Dave McKenna comments, "With this fund, the foundation has another option for Donors who wish to support and celebrate the incredible legacy of sport and athleticism in our community - today and into the future. The Board is delighted that the Banff Sports Hall of Fame Trustees have chosen the foundation for this important decision. We look forward to working with them as we pursue our common goal of giving back to the community that has given us so much."
Mark Starratt, BSHoF Trustee, explains, "The Banff Sports Hall of Fame chose the foundation because of its strong track record in meeting the needs of our community. With the decision to transfer proceeds from our bi-annual fund-raising dinners to an endowment fund, the BSHoF will continue to make a difference in Banff's sport and mountain leisure communities for years to come. Donors that share our vision will also receive charitable income tax receipts." The Banff Sports Hall of Fame will hold its next fund-raising event on September 13 and tickets are now being sold.
Anyone who wants to contribute to the Banff Sports Hall of Fame fund can donate online at www.banffcommunityfoundation.org and select "Donate Now", on the left hand menu. Charitable income tax receipts will be issued.
The Banff Community Foundation was initiated as a Millennium project in 2000 and manages the Community Endowment Fund, similar to a community savings account for Banff National Park. The endowment fund is a pooled fund that earns investment income. The investment earnings are subsequently available for charitable purposes and support Arts, Education, Environment, Health, Heritage, Recreation, and Social Services. Twice a year the foundation invites applications for the Community Grants program. Since 2004 almost $160,000. has been granted to seventy-five community projects.
Next Community Grants application deadline is September 29, 2008.
