April 2007

  • April 19 regular Board meeting held
  • 2007 - 2008 Operating Budget approved
  • Grants 2007 A distributions this month. $25, 176. in project funding for 10 groups
  • Application for renewed operational support to Anonymous Donor
  • Banff Benefit Ball and Dennis Shuler renew commitments
  • TBCF. currently located in CBS Financial Services, on generous pro-bono basis
  • Present at Town of Banff workshop: Successful Proposal Writing. TBCF speaks from granter point of view. Why proposals are/are not successful
  • Site visits to YWCA and The Living Room, March 29, with Anon Donor

    May 2007

  • May 29 Regular Board meeting held
  • Welcome new board members: Leslie de Bie and Dave Mc Kenna (Carsten Sorensen and Yvonne Machuk step down)
  • May 15 Vacate CBS Financial offices - relocate to ED Home office
  • Purchase TBCF printer and telephone
  • May 11 Red Deer convenes Alberta foundations. Topic: “Community Spirit”, provincial donor program
  • Communications Committee Convenes. Community members: Lori Grant, Marjorie Huculak and Susan Kennard. Board members: Mike Dobbin, Lori Ward, Fiona Mactaggart, Brian Smythe: meetings May 1, May 30
  • May 30 - Spring Luncheon, annual friend raiser held at The Banff Centre. 140 attend. Keynote given by Banffite, Jim Thorsell, Senior Advisor the International Union of Conservation of Nature (IUCN) June 2007
  • June 19 - regular and AGM at Melissa's Restaurant combined
  • Communications Committee work ongoing
  • June 19 - CRPS Board of Trustees move to establish Endowment Fund with TBCF July 2007
  • Mactaggart III Family Fund renews commitment to TBCF
  • TBCF resolves to pursue option on Bear Street office space
  • July 17 - TBCF present to Mayor and Council at ToB Council meeting
  • TBC - Advisory Fund Management Committee meet

    August 2007

  • TBCF accepts first online donations through CanadaHelps.org
  • Melissa's racers will receive free photograph and offered the chance to make a donation at time of download
  • BVCU and Iris Environmental donate office furniture to TBCF

    September 2007

  • September 20 - Regular Board meeting held
  • Apply to CFC and the Environment J.W. McConnell Family Foundation for a Kick Start Grant
  • Melissa's Road Race - TBCF named Charity of Choice for second year
  • Community Grants Application Deadline: September 24. Eighteen applications for a total of $75,000.

    October 2007

  • October 23 - Regular Board meeting
  • TBCF signs lease for Suite 301, 220 Bear Street - our own office!
  • Communications Committee undertake SWOT Analysis with Board
  • Grants Adjudication underway
  • Initial Contribution to CRPS Fund received

    November 2007

  • November 15 - regular meeting
  • Renewed operational grant from Anonymous
  • Anonymous Donor #2 gifts to endowment and operating fund
  • Approval of Fall Grants 2007 pending Anonymous Donor approval for $20 K restricted funding
  • TBCF notified that Kick Start Grant application has been accepted
  • November 30 - The Banff Community Foundation First Annual Open House
  • TBC donates $1.6 mi to TBC designated fund, eligible for CAHSP match

    December 2007

  • November 30 - December 1 - Strategic planning session
  • Fund Development Goals: Raise $200 K for Endowment; Grant $60 K in 2008 calendar

    January 2008

  • January 17 - Regular Board meeting
  • Revised Mission Vision approved
  • Capital purchase of iMac and peripherals for TBCF
  • Grant cheques, Fall 2007 released. T = $27,100 in support of 15 project
  • Winter 2008 Grants Deadline January 28. Fifteen applications for a total of $45,745.

    February 2008

  • no regular Board meeting
  • Grants Adjudications
  • TBC - Advisory Fund Management Committee meet
  • Final Communications Report submitted

    March 2008

  • no regular Board meeting
  • Grants Committee recommends approval of 15 projects for funding. Final approval and distribution in April 2008 T = $26,220.
  • Committee of Nominators convened by Mayor Stutz- Marino diManno and Mike Dobbin step down. April 2008: Kathy Rettie, Bart Donnelly and Allyson Van Impe accept nominations
