  Who Can Apply
  Grants are made only to organizations that are registered as charities with Canada Customs and Revenue Agency or are qualified donees under the Income Tax Act.

The Foundation supports only those individuals and organizations that reside within Banff National Park

Nonprofit societies formed under the Alberta Societies Act or nonprofit corporations formed under the Alberta Companies Act, and who are not registered charities, do not qualify for a grant from foundations. However such organizations may, in some cases and for specific projects only, partner with an existing registered charity via a Formal Agency Agreement.

  What We Fund
  The Banff Community Foundation encourages the unique culture of our National Park communities through our support of registered charities in the areas of recreation, arts, education, health, social services, heritage and environment.

Grants are made only to organizations that demonstrate fiscal responsibility and capable management with a strong and committed board.

Grants are awarded for definite purposes and for projects covering a specific period of time. Multi-year grants are subject to an annual performance review.

Preference will be given to projects that show:
Innovation that strengthens the community’s capacity to care for itself;
Collaboration and cooperation within and across sectors;
Prevention as a response to challenges;
Testing new ways to provide services;
Promotion of volunteer participation and citizen involvement;
Building community strength through diversity.
