Community foundations embody a simple concept: one charity that gives to other charities.

The Banff Community Foundation serves a variety of donors with a variety of interests at all levels of charitable giving. We act as a link between donors and charitable agencies. Our foundation provides maximum flexibility in terms of assets that can be used to create a fund, options for the use of the donor's gifts and benefits to the donor. Donors have the choice to be involved in the granting process today or they can choose to create a lasting legacy for the future.

The Banff Community Foundation works cooperatively with other foundations and can provide "flow through" opportunities to a donor's designated charity. By structuring a donation in this way, a donor helps build the community "nest egg", while maintaining a focus with their charity of choice.

The Banff Community Foundation is governed by an impartial Board of Directors, a balanced group of community-wide representatives who are committed to delivering on the donor's wishes.

Board of Directors, effective June 2009:

Seated: Brian Smythe, Neil Wedin, Katie Plunkett (Secretary), Kathy Rettie, Fiona Mactaggart (Past Director), Bart Donnelly (Vice Chair)

Standing: Dave Mc Kenna (Chair) and Rob Coté (Treasurer)
