Over $26,000.00 of new funding for community projects

The Banff Community Foundation continues to funnel valuable resources into the local not-forprofit
sector. In today’s announcement, the following twelve projects will benefit from the philanthropy of donors who support the foundation:

  1. The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies – Microfilming Banff Crag and Canyon
  2. Bow Valley Chorus – Mass of the Children concert in May
  3. Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Foundation – Upper Bow River Watershed Educational Campaign
  4. The Banff Centre – Brass in the Community: Street Performances, Summer 2008
  5. Banff Community High School – Microscopes for Science – completion of classroom set of new technology. Used technology for BES!
  6. YWCA Banff – Girls’ Circle – 12 week group prevention program for girls
  7. Abbeyfield House Banff – Transition Facilitator to continue move towards “Personal Care Home” designation
  8. Banff Community High School Green Team – Bringing Recycling into the School
  9. Town of Banff/Banff Volunteer Centre – Volunteers Wired! Online stories and links for volunteers and community groups seeking volunteer support
  10. Town of Banff Community Art Committee – Support for ‘Community Art Day’ and arts literacy
  11. The Banff Centre – ‘This is My Banff!’ Digital Storytelling project of BCHS
  12. University of Lethbridge/Community Foundations of Canada – Public Education
    Programs: webisodes and PSA’s to support Bow Glacier to Lake Winnipeg - Stewardship of
    Lake Winnipeg Watershed

With this most recent announcement, The Banff Community Foundation has allocated almost
$160,000.00 of grants since 2004. The foundation’s Community Grants program is an important
manifestation of the vision: To improve the quality of life for Banff National Park communities
– for now and forever.
